The NHL is still a joke

Jim Balsillie's bid to purchase the Nashville Predators and relocate them to Southern Ontario appears unlikely now that current Predators owner Craig Leipold has found a new buyer. According to the National Post, Leipold informed Balsillie earlier this week that he would not accept his $238-million US offer for the NHL club. Instead, Leipold is preparing to sell the franchise to California businessman William DelBiaggio, who is expected to move the team to Kansas City instead. DelBiaggio's bid is reportedly $50-million US less than what Balsillie was offering for the club.

This sudden change in buyers reeks of Gary Bettman. And for being a man of Jewish decent, Bettman surprisingly has no clue how to run a business. Even my baby daughter knows that $250 million dollars is a hell of a lot more than $190 million and she still soils herself occasionally.

When a billionaire is willing to pay a ridiculous amount of cash for a lame duck franchise and move it into a hockey town, while in the process boosting the value of every NHL team, how can the league not make this go through? It is time to move the franchises to markets who will buy the product. Gary, to put it into perspective for you; this decision makes about as much sense as investing your entire pension to open a Kosher deli in Baghdad.
