Starting where they left off last season, San Diego Chargers rookie Anthony Waters was charged with hitting a man who threw a rock at his car on a highway. The 22-year-old linebacker was arrested last week on a simple assault and battery charge and released on $1,000 bail. Waters was traveling on the highway last week when a passenger in a vehicle in front of him threw a rock and broke Waters' windshield, causing about $350 in damages, according to arrest warrants. It's unclear what happened next, but at some point Waters and another man struck Colby Sarvis, 18, and threatened to kill him. Waters was selected in the third round of the NFL draft.
Waters is only slightly smarter than Chris Henry. At least he had a reason for assaulting the teenager, but issuing a death threat over a $350 windshield is still way out of proportion. Like killing your friend because he looked at your woman. Or knifing some kid for his new sneaks, only to find they were Marbury's $15 pieces of plastic.
It's ok to hit someone that throws a rock at your windshield while your driving. What if Waters had crashed and killed himself or his passenger. Think about it.
