Suspended Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Odell Thurman has been ordered to appear in court for allegedly violating probation on his drunken driving conviction. Thurman's probation officer said Thurman failed to show up for a scheduled meeting on July 24. Thurman has been ordered to appear before a judge on Aug.21 to explain himself. If the judge decides Thurman violated probation, the linebacker could be sent to jail.
The NFL suspended Thurman last season after skipping a drug test and also getting arrested for drunken driving. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell recently denied his request for reinstatement for the 2007 season.
I dig Thurman's play here. Dude just went a full year without pay and now he's suspended for the 2007 season, which means still no bank. His only hope for a hot meal is to head back to the slammer and let Uncle Sam foot the bill. I guess he didn't realize that his hot meal will also be accompanied by chocolate pound cake in his cell each night.
If he's lucky, maybe some of his team mates will join him in the slammer and watch his back
